Rape victim sues car dealership

KING COUNTY, Wash. — A woman who police say was raped at random by a homeless man at the Carter Volkswagen dealership last year in Ballard is suing the dealership.

Prosecutors say Christopher Edward Teel attacked the woman in a restroom. He is awaiting trial.

In April, the victim spoke about the attack and demanded change in how Seattle addresses homeless issues.

“He had a warrant out for his arrest going back to 2016, which was very troubling to me,” the victim said.

At the time of the alleged rape, Teel was wanted by police for breaking into and squatting at a home in Magnolia.

In the lawsuit against the dealership, the victim argues the business should have taken more steps to protect customer safety.
